Who We Are
Get to Know Us
We clean, monitor, preserve and educate the community about the water quality on the Tarpon River. Once a month we collect trash from the Tarpon River. We encourage others in the community to do this as well. On a weekly basis we collect water samples from the River and post them to on this website. We will create the first database in the State to report on the water quality from the Tarpon River
Our History
In 2021, three students at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School and one student at Saint Anthony’s Catholic School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (W. Morgan Mathews, Dominick Tedesco, Kai Jackson Downing and Hudson Mathews), began to think about days in their youth when they previously swam in the Tarpon River. After a series of sewage spills, the students knew the Tarpon River was contaminated but they didn’t know how bad the water was. These founding members partnered with some environmental scientists to collect water samples from the Tarpon River. The results shocked them.
Our Mission
We are a group of Fort Lauderdale high school students committed to the preservation of the Tarpon River for future generations. We clean, monitor, preserve and educate the community about the Tarpon River and its water quality.
