Tarpon River Water Quality
In April of 2022 we began testing the quality of the water in the Tarpon River on a weekly basis. We test the River at four locations: (1) Tarpon Cove Park (a city park that encourages the use of the Tarpon River); (2) 219 Davie Boulevard (near the railroad crossing on Davie Boulevard); (3) 900 SE 3rd Street (near the site of the new federal courthouse); and (4) 100 S. Federal Highway (on the NW side of Rio Vista neighborhood and US1). [Ideally, we have a small map of this area and have a pointer at each location we are testing.]
- Who collects the water? Local high school students.
- How the water is tested? The students were educated by a marine biologist on effective methods to collect water.
- Locations where we collect water samples. [Insert a map that has the location of each testing site.]
